Meet Our Team

PowerGrid is intentionally built on values that focus on relationships and integrity. We are founded on values that align with our faith. We do things a bit differently around here, and we are proud of that. We understand that people matter more than anything, including the bottom line. The leaders of the company have values that align with what we do.

Tim Tavel, CEO

Tim Tavel took over as the Chief Executive Officer of PowerGrid Services in January of 2022 and is responsible for the overall performance of PowerGrid Services and all of it’s affiliates. Tim joined the PowerGrid organization in 2019 as Vice President of Operations. While serving as Vice President, Tim lead multiple divisions of the company and was instrumental in the growth and success of the organization. Tim’s strong morals paired with his ability to mentor and lead, had an immediate positive impact on PowerGrid and continues to each and every day.

Prior to joining PowerGrid, Tim provided 28 years of service at Alabama Power Company. Tim was in various roles throughout his time with Alabama Power Company, but in his most recent role, he served as Manager of Power Delivery Contract Services and Manpower Director in the Corporate Storm Center. The knowledge and experience Tim retained while at Alabama Power along with his core values allowed for a seamless transition into Vice President at PowerGrid.

Tim has a servant leadership style that is fostered in his personal life, where he serves on his church’s board of trustees. He has served as a deacon for over 20 years and taught a couples’ adult Sunday School class.

Under Tim’s leadership, PowerGrid will continue being a family-oriented company exemplifying the core values that founded this company.

Daniel Sexton, COO

Daniel Sexton joined PowerGrid in November of 2017 as the VP of Transmission Construction. His initial role with PowerGrid focused on growth and successful execution of Transmission projects. As the company continued to grow, Daniel did as well and accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer in April of 2020. Daniel’s extensive experience in distribution and transmission construction has allowed him to be successful in this role and continue to safely grow the PowerGrid Organization.

Daniel began doing powerline construction in 1996, just months after graduating high school. In his 26 years in this industry, he’s worked his way up through the ranks from groundman to journeyman lineman. In 2006, he moved into management, where he says he enjoys managing people, building customer relationships, and helping maintain PowerGrid’s reputation as a premier utility partner.

An aspect that is especially important to him is the opportunity to impact team members positively in their work life at PowerGrid. He is passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and allows it to guide his decisions, perspectives, and leadership.

Away from work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors year-round, golfing in the summer and hunting in the winter.

Mandy Dunkin, VP of Business Development

Mandy Dunkin joined PowerGrid in 2016 after being approached by the company’s founders – a group of experienced, business-driven individuals who wanted to create a company that would stand apart from the industry competition.

Prior to joining PowerGrid Mandy served in various roles with Associated. Mandy was part of the original team that helped found and grow PowerGrid the successful organization it is today. The new company had a humble beginning, with six team members sharing a one-room office during the initial start-up.

Mandy initially served as the company’s Director of Administration while pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree. As the company continued to grow and create dynamic management needs, she migrated into the role of Vice President of Business Development. Her primary activities include meeting and developing relationships with customers and business partners and representing PowerGrid at conferences.

Mandy describes her experience as “truly a joy,” watching the company grow from a plan to flourish into an abundant reality. She lists meeting people and gaining industry knowledge as her favorite aspects of the journey.

Jennifer Motley, Associate VP

Jennifer Motley joined the PowerGrid organization in 2019 as the Business Development Manager with a focus on growing the Collective Strategic Resources portfolio. Since her arrival in 2019 the PowerGrid organization has grown exponentially and in 2022 Jennifer was promoted to Vice President on the PowerGrid Executive Team. Within her new role Jennifer is responsible for the entire PowerGrid fleet, including supporting all of the PowerGrid family of businesses with their equipment acquisitions, fleet management, and fleet management best practices. She also continues to support CSR’s contracting and utility partners whom she has been blessed to build lifelong relationships with.

Before joining CSR and PowerGrid, Jennifer served as Fleet Director in the utility industry, where she managed all on-road and off-road assets.

She is an active member in her church, where she teaches Sunday School for children ages 3 to 5, serves on the church’s First Impressions Team, and supports the outreach team through local service projects throughout the year. Jennifer says the most rewarding part of working in the utility industry is serving communities nationwide in restoring power after disasters or other emergencies. She says that opportunity speaks to her higher purpose as a Christian called to serve, and her career at PowerGrid and within the industry positions her to help thousands of people across the region and nation.
